Back to work

Back to work tonight.  It should be interesting as we only have 2 scheduled tonight due to one nurse taking a day shift and one being on vacation.  That leaves me being charge and our new nurse.  He is doing pretty good.  The resource team hopefully well send some nurses who are used to working on my floor.

They are doing lay-offs this week.  This will cause a lot of stress and worry.  As many as 50 people. Happy Nurses week to us.  Most of the time this will be management and not nurses but there are rumors of downsizing our entire hospital.  People just can't afford to go to the hospital and free standing surgery centers are taking alot of business plus the doctors offices are doing alot of their own procedures right on site.  What would happen if my hospital where to close.  We are the trauma hospital and the best heart hospital around.  It would be a huge loss to this town.  I keep hearing how the economy is doing so good.  Not in this town.  There are lay-offs all the time.  First Gateway left and they closed the stockyards, now MCI.  The only new businesses are fast food places or strip malls.  Not many where you can make a living.  I hope I make it to retirement before we have to re-locate.

Well fishing yesterday was just awful.  I had 3 bites and it turned out to be a turtle.  It was windy but very pretty at the lake.  We never went to my patients pond because we weren't 100% we were at the right place and since we would have had to walk across a corn field I didn't want to be at the wrong place and have some farmer chasing me in his tractor, LOL.

Well, I have to get to the bank and then find a card for my MIL.  Take care everyone.
