Anticipation worse then reality

Meditation is running into reality. It does not insulate you from the pain of life. It allows you to delve so deeply into life and all its aspects that you pierce the pain barrier and go beyond suffering.

-Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, "Mindfulness in Plain English"

That wasn't that bad!  I put it off and put it off and it wasn't that bad.

Almost didn't happen though.  I get to the doc's and they tell me after I am in the room that she is just going to look at the toe today, not take the nail out!  What!

I can hardly afford to go once much less twice for the same thing.  They wanted to make sure it wasn't infected.  I told the nurse very nicely that I had been very clear on the phone that it wasn't infected and I wanted it removed, not just looked at.  I was pretty ticked about the whole thing.  Fortunately my Doc checked the toe and said she would do it today.  The bad thing is we had to wait awhile and it is late enough no fishing.  Hopefully tomorrow.

The toe is nice and numb now and hopefully won't hurt much when that wears off.  I hope she fixed it so it won't ever come back.  She put some acid on it again that is suppose to prevent it from returning but I have had it done 3 times now and it keeps coming back.  Took 2 years this time though so that is alittle better.

I got this email in the mail today.  I always am looking for ways to improve my exercises and thought this article was good.  Discovery Health :: The Three Exercises You Must Do for a Tighter You

Every once in awhile I need to wear my blue jeans with the zipper.  I put them on yesterday and they sure felt looser.  I have to remind myself that even when I am not loser I am losing inches from the exercise.  Putting the pants on made me realize my waist was much smaller and the seat of the pants are downright baggy.  It wasn't that long ago I could wear these or zip them up.  Now they are almost getting too big.  Nice feeling.

I have to go through my closet.  I have so many clothes I can't wear anymore and since I am never going to be that size again I might as well get rid of them.

Ran across this great recipe again while I was looking for meal idea.  I got this recipe from this site. http://www.gourmania.com/index.htm  They have some wonderful lean recipes but some great ones for diabetics, you name it.  It is for people who are crazy about food, Gee sounds like your's truly.

Split Pea and Barley Soup
Source: Healthy Helpings/MealLeaniYumm!

For a delicious smoky flavor, add the cut-up carcass of a smoked turkey along with the barley!

2 cups green split peas, rinsed and drained
3 carrots, chopped
3 or 4 stalks celery, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
12 cups water, chicken or vegetable broth
1/2 cup pearl barley, rinsed and drained
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cloves crushed garlic, if desired
2 tsp. canola oil
2 medium onions, chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh dill

1. In a large soup pot, combine split peas, carrots, celery and 1 onion with water. Bring to a boil. Stir in barley, bay leaf and garlic, if using. Reduce heat and simmer partly covered for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Stir occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste.

2. In a nonstick skillet, heat oil. Saute the remaining 2 onions on medium heat until well-browned, about 6 to 8 minutes. Add onions to soup along with dill. Simmer soup 5 to 10 minutes longer. Discard bay leaf (and turkey carcass, if using).

Yield: 12 servings. Reheats and/or freezes well. If soup gets thick, add a little water or broth.

Glad it's over!!!! Hopefully it won't be too painful the next few days.
Great about your jeans, Can't wait to I can fit into a pair of zip ups, mine are elastic waist (sz26/28). Would love to get down to a 18!!!
Recipe looks wonderful. Yummy. I don't do a lot of cooking, just easy quick stuff since it's just for me. Back when I had a family to cook for it was different.
The ballerina is lovely! ;0)

The ballerina is beautiful.  She will love it!  I hope the toe isn't too painful once the numbing wears off.
Enjoy your night and I'm sure you are SO RELIEVED that it's over!            Pamela

I am glad everything went well at the Dr's office. Would you believe I have a ballerina exactly like that one. It belonged to my MIL. I have no idea how long she had it. I thought it was like it so I went and looked and yep blue cap & all. Guess one day I will go ahead and give it to her g-grandaughter which is my step grandaughter. Helen

My sister had both her big toenails removed and she gets them pedicured.  They actually look really good.  I don't know exactly what they do but they look like real nails. and how about those loose fitting jeans!  That's awesome.  Keep up the great work!  GBU, Shelly
