Another worry!

I am not usually a worry wart, but I was outside watering my flowers and saw what looked like a small scab on my leg.  Very small and about the size of freckle.  It turned out to be a tick that was sucking away happily on my blood!

I have had ticks before and pulled 2 off the dog yesterday.  However I have never had such a tiny tick before which got me worried.  I know the deer tick is much smaller then the dog tick.  I did all that riding the other day through woods and meadows and sat on the benches a couple of times when I was tired.  I pulled the tick out and put it in a baby food jar.  I checked the yellow pages to see if there is someplace I could bring the tick to ID it for sure.  No luck.  I check on line, but the tick is so small I can't see it well enough to be sure what it is.  I also checked out Lyme disease to see what I should look for.

I do have a rash on my leg, but I think I got into something on the ride as it has been there since the ride.  I guess I will keep a eye on the site where it bit me and if a rash developes me and the tick are off to the Doctors.

I hate putting bug spray on, doesn't seem healthy for some reason, but Lyme disease doesn't seem healthy either.  My husband says if anyone would get lymes disease it would be me.  Great.  I am somewhat unlucky that way.  I could even have gotten it in my yard with all the deer we have.

Anyway wish me luck.  The bad thing is they say only about half the people infected even get a rash.

Julie, the good thing is that you actually know about the bite and are on the look out for it.  You may not get a full blown rash, but I'm sure that something will show up....My step-son had lyme disease and even though the bulls eye looking thing showed up...it was not too late.  He took antibiotics for like a month and then had his blood checked again and he was ok...Thank God!  Watch it closely and see what happens.  As far as the 5lbs that you say you gained from the other post...I'm willing to bet that your muscles are retaining extra water from all the work that you made them do when you went on your bike ride.

Down around Waterloo, AL, those tiny, tiny ticks are everywhere.  Before we realized that, I, my sister-in-law, my daugher, and her son, were all bitten by several of them.  They were about the size of a pinhead.   Tiny....   None of us got sick....I hope it makes you feel better.

I hope you're ok and it turns out to be nothing.  Keep an eye on it.  I'm glad you saved the tick.  That'll be helpful if you do get sick!
