Fathers and Daughters

In the dark of the night the daughter leans tenderly over her fathers bed and brushes his hair out of his eyes.  Their eyes meet and glow with warmth and love.  She holds his hands and tells him she loves him.  The old sentimental nurse turns hurriedly away with tears in her eyes at witnessing such a tender moment.  Such is the night shift.

I used to work the night shift at a nursing home.  When the nursing home quiets down at night and you have some time to sit down one on one with your patients and just TALK to them for awhile.  It really warms your heart to just relax and LISTEN to your patient.  You are typically flying through your shift to get everything done.  Every once in a while you catch wonderful moments with family members.  I used to get that with a couple that were in the same room together.  They were married for over 60 years.  He would pamper his wife and be so sweet with her.  He *always* made sure she was comfortable before he settled into bed.  Their hugs and kisses were sweet moments to watch.
Hugs,
Gina

How beautiful that little snippet of time was to visit Julie.  Thank you for sharing...You made my eyes fill with tears and I have a lump in my throat too.  What a touching scene.  I hope he will be alright.

Very true. I dont know how you stay alert on those night shifts. I remember with my increase the population output of 5 kids,lol...but those nights were very quiet. I used to hate it when the nurses would wake me up,lol...but I always had a wonderful experience. Its like room service with a smile and has nothing to do with tips but your care.

Great graphics! ~Raven

Yah!  I hate that part of my job, the whole emotional part.  Which is why I'm the perfect ER nurse, lol.  But don't doubt it, because there are times when I can't hold back the tears myself.  De ;)
