Bicycle

It is suppose to be 70 today and I want to ride my bicycle.  Now I haven't ridden since Nov.  My legs will be out of practice, my endurance will suck, but I will love it.  First though the Craft show.

We have to help my Aunt set up at the craft show.  I am looking forward to visiting with her.  Seems my Dad's youngest has been in touch.

Now if you have been reading my journal for a long time you know I did not have a nice father.  Married 5 times, pathological liar, scam artist, bank robber and embezzler, yup dear old dad.  Married his last wife and even while dying of cancer managed to take her for all she was worth.  And she is such a sweet woman.  I felt so sorry for her.

When he died he was worth millions, but I refused to try for any of it.  My half brothers, sisters, and step mothers fought it in court for over 5 years, but I wanted none of it.  And I think my oldest step brother who had turned out the most like dear old dad managed to get most of it.  But my youngest step brother, little if none.

One of the things that came out of the long drawn out court case was un-veiling most of my Dads lies.  His fake names, hidden assets, out of wedlock children, crimes and misdemeaners.  I felt sorry for the younger kids who didn't know yet what their father was like.  And now 5 years later here he is to learn more about his father's relatives.

They gently warned him to be sure he really wanted answers before he visited.  If he wants to continue to hear the lies my dad told him not to come, but otherwise he was welcome.  He wastold by my dad that his family disowned him.  Just the opposite. Both of his parents died begging him to come see them.  They were wonderful people from the old country.  Could not understand why their son had written them off.  Thank heavens their other children turned out fine.  My dad was a bad seed.

So anyway this will be interesting.  Did he come?  And then afterward we are going for a ride.  I will have to be firm and not let Rick talk me into a 25 mile ride first time out.  I am thinking the 8 mile run along the river will be the thing to start with.  Yippy, bike riding season is upon us.

I slept so terrible last night.  I am only going to take the sleeping pills on the days I work so I can be sure to get a good night sleep.  What is with this terrible sleeping lately?  Hopefully getting back on my bike and regular exercise will help.  I slept like a dream last summer.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Bless the guy's heart.    He's going to have to come to grips with what you did a long time ago.    Hope the visit goes well, if he shows.     I think it's this change of season that's messing with our sleep.   I was awake this a.m. about 3, and haven't slept much since.   Hate that!

It won't be long until you are riding like that kid in the video. Hope the young man enjoys the visit with you and hope you enjoy him coming even those it will be a sad time trying to tell him the truth versa all about the untruths he has been told. Helen

Enjoy your bike ride Julie and I hope your visitor finds out what he needs to know without too much upset.
Power to your pedals and mind that knee at first! Don't go daft!   Jeanie

My fingers are officially crossed!  I aplaud you for showing some pretty high morals and ethics by not wanting any part of the money that was more than likely amassed by shady means at best.  The most important thing here is that you can look yourself in the face every morning.  I believe you can still do that with pride.

Don't go that speed they show in the video Julie! Sounds like your dad was a bad person, I don't think I'd want anything to do with his money either. I hope you get out on your bike now it's turned warmer for you, you'll soon get in shape! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

So, Julie, did he show up and hear about your dad?

Are you menopausal or pre-menopausal yet, Julie?  That's when my sleep became totally disrupted.  I took Premarin for a month, and my sleeping went right back to normal but I didn't want to continue on hormones.  Chris
