   Happy New Year!  2006

Just think, 6 short years ago everyone was worried it was the end of the world due to Y2K.  Time just flys by.  I had an uneventful night at work.  It made it easier to work knowing I was making around 60 an hour.  Lots of food again at work and temptations.  I will be so glad when the holidays are gone.  I did have some wraps and celery dipped in veggie dip on top the the meal I brought.

Work is having a year long commitment to healthy living.  There will be cash incentives and free lab work plus lectures.  I am going to join that and the walk across America site. I signed up for the 10 week course.  They have some wonderful calculators on the site to check out.  http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm  I like the one that tells me how many calories i have to stay under.  The more things I have going on to make me accountable the better.

Well, I just got off a long 12 hour shift and am going to sleep.  I have to work tonight also so want to be rested.

I slept until 4 pm.  That is so great because it makes working nights a breeze if you get more then 5 hours of sleep.  We had our usual accidents last night on America's biggest drinking day so the night was busy, busy, busy.  Also got our usual fast heart rates from drinking to much.  Keeps me in business.  Today should be better.  Rick is making low fat chicken and noodles for supper which I love.

Ramen noodles.... I have been using these to make some tasty lunches lately.  I get rid of the sauce package which has to much salt for me and just use the noodles.  I put in heated vegetables or sauted mushrooms or just sprinkle garlic in it and then top it with grated Parmesan cheese.  I love yellow squash and zucchini with tomato chopped up and purple onion also. Its a fast quick meal.  I suppose I could do the same thing with regular spaghetti.  Spinach spaghetti would be great with the mixed vegetables in and wouldn't take any longer then the ramen noodles but I like that I have a nice serving with the ramen.  Then I warm up some organic applesauce with cinnamon in up and that is just like eating apple pie without the crust and low calories.  If I was shown this side by side with a fast food sandwich, fries and a pop I would definitely take the noodles and applesauce over that.  But then I never did care for fast foods so that isn't a fair comparison.  After watching supersize me I am glad I never cared for fast foods.

Well I won't get to the gym today since it is already 4:41 and I have to leave here at 6 so I will close now and do some yoga.  I feel tight and sore in the muscles so that should help stretch me out and get me ready for another wonderful 12 hours.  Actually I do love my work.  One the 28th I will have been a nurse at that hospital for 26 years. More then half my life!

HI Julie:

I think what you are doing is very courageous and inspiring.

Thanks for helping us all (who need help and want to do it alone..without paying for it, without eating out of cans, without drinking a meal, etc. etc.).

I love yoga! I try to do it first thing out of bed every morning, at least a few poses. I will also do a little mini-yoga break during the work day. It's awesome that you love your job... if you love what you do then you'll never work a day in your life! LOVE the ramen noodle ideas! Happy New Year!
