I think I have my mystery solved.

Poor Zoey has been scratching and itching up a storm.  There are scabs on her haunches.   I have been looking her over really good.  No fleas.  Giving her benadryl.  Checking all her food.  Then as she was sitting there in the kitchen door I finally got a clue.  I think it is from the disinfectant they use at the vets when she was boarded.  That is why her haunches would be worse and her legs and tummy.  Its the only thing I can think of and it started right after we boarded her there the first time.  She is scheduled to be boarded again when we go to Omaha.

I am going tomorrow and get her some oatmeal shampoo and then Monday I am going to cancel the appointment at the vets for boarding and bring her to our usual place.  Unless the vet will wash down the kennel with just plain water.  Maybe bringing her blanket will help.  So what do you think.  Sound like that may be whats causing it to you guys?  I can't think of anything else new.  Poor old girl.  I also decided I don't want to know how her biopsy turned out until after we get home.  We are under enough stress right now.

Talked to MIL today.  She is having a good day and BIL is being VERY attentive.   If she really does only have a few weeks left how can we tell him to go.  And actually she looks pretty good to me right now, but maybe its because I see her everyday.  Now to convince hospice.  Oh., and MIL refuses respite.  She never was good about using common sense.  Stubborn woman.

You could be right. I think changing places would be better than the vet washing down with just plain water. Poor thing has enough to go through without that allergy, whatever it may be. Helen

I bet you're right about Zoey. Better to change places completely. Even if her own kennel were cleaned with water, she could still be exposed to that chemical just by being in the place.
You've got so much going on with MIL, BIL, Rick, and Zoey. How are you staying sane? You are a strong woman.

Sounds very reasonable to me.  Of course, after the last few experiences boarding my cats, I have little confidence in these places when it comes to cleanliness and the care of our animals.

Poor Zoey!   (The rest of y'all, too)     I think it sounds like you may have figured out the problem.   Surely the vets office could give the kennel an extra good rinse down before she goes in there.   I'd think it's not that uncommon for dogs to have reactions to chemicals, people do!     (((((Julie)))))) hang in there, I know you are really going through the fire right now.

Poor little girl.  Don't you just hate it when they suffer?

You are such a strong and caring woman Julie.  I admire you so much for the courage you have shown in the face of all your troubles with BIL, Rick and his heart problem and now Zoey.
I pray that Betty is allowed to have a peaceful passing and that BIL behaves himself until then. I would have found a way to kick him into touch by now.  And I'm known for my patience and timidness.
Poor Zoey!  It does sound as though she has picked up an alergy to something whilst in the vets kennels.  Maybe some Aloe Vera Gel will help sooth it? I used it on my radiotherapy burns and it was soooo cooling and soothing as well as antiseptic.
Just a thought...
Praying for you all...
By th way..don't forget to look after yourself too...!

Hugs

I would board Zoey somewhere else.  Poor thing has enough problems without being itchy all the time.  I hope all goes well in Omaha.  You have so much on your plate right now.  Keeping all of you and your Zoey in my prayers.  Chris
