Watch out baby animals

Everyday I have had to be watering my flowers on the porch because it has been so hot, in the high 90's.  I have been giving them all a good soaking.  Daily!  Today I start watering the plants in the whiskey barrel and it comes alive.   Little wet bunnies hopping over the edge and leaping off the porch.  Tiny little bunnies!

What a shock.  How long have they been there.  Some mom bunny climbed on my porch, into my planter and had babies.  What a wet life they have had so far.

How could I have not known?  Would she have moved them there during the night?  Do bunnies move their babies like cats do?  Scattered all the yard, little shivering wet bundles of fur.  I felt terrible.  Then over my head, from the wreath on the porch the last remaining baby robin took off for its first flight to join the other.

Both parents then screeched at me and commences diving at my head.  Connected a couple of times also.   What!  All I wanted to do was water my lousy flowers.  I dropped the hose and ran.  I sure hope they all make it.  I will feel terrible if there are little fluffy dead things all over my yard.  Angry accusing robins screaming at me from the trees.  They even followed me into the back yard.  Thats it.  That wreath is going and I am planting cactus in the whiskey barrel.  I can only live with so much quilt.

what a summer you're having!  i would love to be so up close to the babies.  lol  not that i want to get attacked though.  you shouldn't feel guilty...you did nothing to harm the babies deliberately....and hopefully mom was able to round them all up.

Awww, poor baby rabbits. Hopefully the mom rounded them all up. They didn't get any wetter than if it had rained on them I am sure. Helen

Awww, so cute...but I agree with Helen...even if it rained, they would have been wet no matter what..even more so.  Hugs and love,

That Robin has attitude!  How ungrateful and not a bit like the one I looked after earier this year when it stood watching its fledgling eating from my bird table on my old mangle. It knew what side its bread was buttered on.
Poor wee angel rabbits!  What a drookin' you gave them!  They were probably placed there by their mother so that they could have a shower from you every day to cool 'em down in the heat.  lol!  Eeh!  Julie.   You have such nature on your doorstep.  You lucky woman!

A little water on a hot day won't kill the bunnies!     Cute little things.   Dogs move their babies as well, I bet the rabbit did, too.

Aw, poor teeny bunnies but they did survive the waterings.  I wonder how long they had been there.  Cute little thing it is.  Must have wondered what the heck was going on.  We had robins in our brass lamp outside our family room.  The last one has finally started to fly.  Stay cool.  Chris

Lol! You have a very exciting wildlife porch. As for the little bunnies they will be fine. They are usually on their own at a very young age. The only thing bad that could happen to them is being eaten by coyotes, wild dogs, or owls. The little bit of water won't hurt them. I'm in agreement about removing the nesting place for the robins so this doesn't occur next year. (Hugs) Indigo
