Last day

Work has a way of effectively erasing most memories of vacations from you brain and bringing you sharply back to the present.   I spent the first day back with my head in the clouds on long lonely highways but after being charge and having a full house yesterday I have difficulty even remembering what the mountains look like.  Sigh.

Today I was looking at rentals on the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.   Houses on Lake Superior with a deck overlooking the beach.   Trying to tempt Rick with another road trip.  To see the fall colors.  Not having much luck though.  Darn.

One more night of work.   We are running pretty full as we tend to do in the cooler months.   My low census days are probably over for awhile.  I have a cold and just don't feel up to par so am looking forward to my long stretch off even if I don't do anything but rest up.  I do have to start on cleaning out the basement.  No fun.

Oh and something surprising happened.   My BIL paid us back our $400.  Surprise surprise.   He is getting ready to go back to Arizona.  The cold weather is not his cup of tea.  Can't blame him there.  Another chapter ending.  A disturbing upsetting chapter.

I have been talking to my younger sister.  Her health is very bad.  I also want to drive there and visit.  See my niece.  Greenbay Wi. isn't that far away.  Time to mend some fences.  Also I am not done withmy wanderlust it seems, LOL.

I'm glad BIL pulled through and made good on his promise to pay you back.  :)  I'm sorry to hear about your sister though.  Hope your last day at work is a quick one - get better!  Julie

Beautiful pictures Julie. I am glad that you got your money back. Just go ahead and go on another trip. Enjoy it while your health will allow it. Good idea to mend those fences if at all possible. Helen

Julie, can I copy your pictures?  I would love to set them up as a slide show on my work pc.

Good news on the money paid back, no matter what his character, maybe he DOES have a conscience.  If possible, mend those fences with your sister so there will be no regrets.

Follow your heart and if it leads you to your sister...then that's where you are supposed to be.  And i know what you mean about the realities after vacation.  I can barely remember what Virginia Beach looked like......

((sigh))

Isn't it something how we seem to wait forever for a vacation and then get home and it vanishes like dust in the wind.  The upper peninsula of Michigan is stunning.  Too bad you can't talk Rick into.  Maybe the road is calling for you to mend fences.  I'm surprised that BIL paid you back.  Love your pictures!  Chris

You really should work on Rick some more and convince him to make the road tip to see the fall colors.  I am really hoping that they will be bright this year....I'm looking forward to using my new equipment on them.  I've got a brand new Intensifier filter that I am itching to use on the fall foliage.

I, too, enjoy driving and especially down the older roads. I've been that way since I was a kid. Santa Claus was quite nice in his help with BIL's $400.

Now the whole sorry episode of your BIL can fade as quickly into the past as your holiday seemed to.  Although... I wish you lots of escapism in your mind to those high empty roads when the time allows.
Your lakeside lodge sounds heavenly. You will know instinctively when the bridges have to be built.  Its hard and patient work but I know you have mountains of those capabilities to hand to draw on.
The leaves are falling already here in the English Lakes.  Where did summer go?
